You Can’t Step in the Same Ocean Twice
Artwork Description
Well you can't swim in the same ocean twice can you?
It's because the molecules are always changing.
It's a big painting. I got excited and thought big is BIG. I painted it in 15 minutes. I had a brief - BIG.
We're in a big ocean. It's the power of water.
My job is to fill the space and turn it into an artist's work. But I made a msitake. Who the hell has a wall that big? It's the bigness of the piece, but it doesn't have bigness when you look at it from a far away perspective.
I can't tell a person what to feel. It's up to whoever is looking at it.
When I pick up a brush and start painting, whatever is supposed to be on the canvas, appears, it seems. It is like the hand of God. Or I call it the 'artists resource'. Somehow tapping into the subconscious and letting whatever wants to appear, just appear.
I find the meaning in the painting after I've painted it. I have the same experience as the person viewing it. I am connecting with it and feeling whatever meaning comes to me.
I am careful to ascribe too much meaning to each painting. This is what I see and what it means to me. You decide for yourself what you see and what it means to you because.... you can't swim in the same ocean twice.
