Artwork Number 12

Volcano

Artwork Description

“Did you know Mount Eden in New Zealand, where you were born, is an inactive volcano?” my dad asked me. “We used to run down and around the circle there. It is a perfect cone and you keep running and running until you fall over. That is how I got to know about volcanoes.

The difference between wanting to land on the moon and those who want to face real danger, are those who are prepared to climb into an active volcano.

What is the rating we would give to someone who is prepared to fly into the sun?….which is not necessarily ultimately impossible, it is there to be done. Well, they never thought they would fly to the moon, but it is there to be done!

Michael shares “Sometimes I feel like I am walking into an active volcano, in life. That is for people who want to face real danger!!!”

Are you someone who wants to face real danger?

“I want the people who think they can do it, to do it, like Howard Hughes, Captain Cook, Elon Musk, Richard Branson.

There are degrees of danger, and the degree of danger is lowest when the degree of publicity is highest” shares Michael, laughing again.

“A dangerous man is one who doesn't fear death.

A dangerous man is one who knows no fear.

Who was the most important person in the world in the last….4000 years, 2000 years, 1000 years? They all have different important people.

So if you want to be famous you better get your running shoes on because as soon as you are dead, you strike the bell of ignorance and that is the beginning of the end. That's where LOVE all lines up. I think it can have more effect than hatred. And it can leave a longer trail because it pushes on the heart strings.”

You may notice that this piece is not flat. Michael painted over it several times. “That’s how I save money,” he laughs.

Are you prepared to walk into an active volcano or fly into the sun?

It is there to be done.
