‘Old Man in the Sea’ by Ernest Hemingway explores the idea of our quest to continue to do whatever we must do to the best of our ability, no matter what challenges come our way. And that while these challenges may strip a man of outward signs of success, still his spirit can remain undefeated. A will to never give up and keep on trying.
Michael sees this same message in this piece.
Michael has not given up. Despite Parkinsons, two types of cancer, and a diagnosis of only three months to live, he has not given up. At the age of 70 he is still standing and inspiring us to never give up. Even when we are out in an ocean, facing our challenges in life, we continue on, just like Michael Kiely.
Our spirit can remain undefeated.
