Artwork Number 31
Invasion (2016)
Artwork Description
‘Invasion’ tells the story of Australia's many ‘invasions’.
It is not the same story your teachers taught you about Captain Cook and convicts.
There are different stories of different invasions that happened long before George III was declared King of Australia.
The great south land was invaded by warlike people from the Pacific Islands.
A Frenchman calling himself La Perouse also “tried the same stunt, but we sent him packing the same week he arrived.”
“Next thing they will be claiming the moon with a flag.
Don’t forget our stories.
Space travellers came late, but we were there and the Fijians have better parties. Don’t mention long-pic, it was already on the south pacific menu.”
