Artwork Number 27
The Bore
Artwork Description
Drilling down for water on the homestead.
The water was pouring out of this bore in the middle of the drought and the farmer didn't think anything of it.
It was an artesian bore.
They would allow it to pour out night and day.
There was a time when that was allowed, now not so.
When you're in the outback, the water is beneath our feet.
To wake up the water in a drought they would dance on top of it, our First Nations peoples.
This reminds me of derelict places. Not kept. Not cared for.
All they had was the value of the soil - which they didnt understand.
Do you understand what is right beneath your feet? The value of what you stand on? Or do you let the water pour out with no thought of its value?
